Bio:


Nathan Smith is a cybersecurity consultant focused on IoT device security out of Tyler, Texas. Nathan has accumulated 8 years of industry experience developing and testing embedded controls and software, leading software development teams, and managing digital products. He received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Tyler. He has performed device penetration testing, firmware reviews, and mobile application security assessments on industry devices.

Workshop


Hack Your BSidesPR Badge: A hands on demonstration of the various methods that can be used to hack your electronic BSidesPR badge. We will be demonstrating the tools and techniques to attack a low-level device like a badge. Including modifying firmware on target via standard programming interfaces and reverse engineering a "cereal" interface.
